List of products by brand PARFUMS DE MARLY

The 18th century was marked by the absolute reign of King Louis XV. France stood out as the epicenter of fragrances, with Grasse and Paris as its main centers. Every day, the king requested a different scent for his chambers, and fountains of aromatic essences emanated in the palace. The court was famous for its obsession with perfumes and was dubbed "la cour parfumée" (the perfumed court). During this era, some of the most iconic fragrances were created, thanks to the king's dedicated perfumer, Jean Fargeon.

The king decided to dedicate the Château de Marly, built by Louis XIV, to the well-being of horses. As a passionate lover of these animals, Louis XV always sought to improve their qualities through selective breeding. These horses were the origin of the purebred Arabian combined with the robust European breeds. In 1743, in honor of his great-grandfather Louis XIV, Louis XV commissioned Guillaume Coustou to sculpt a masterpiece for the gardens of the Château de Marly. This impressive creation, known as "The Horses of Marly," was moved to the Champs-Élysées in the heart of Paris in 1974, where it continues to be admired to this day.

Parfums de Marly revives the spirit of the lavish receptions and celebrations that took place at the Château de Marly, for the delight of members of the Royal Court and foreign dignitaries. Through its unique concept, Parfums de Marly renews the splendor of 18th-century fragrances, when the finest perfumes were crafted for King Louis XV, as a tribute to the prestigious horse races he so admired. Each fragrance is named after a noble equine breed, paying homage to this rich tradition.
